2011 Non-Profit Beneficiaries

Bon Secours St. Francis Health System Volunteers
representing MOM (Mobile On-site Mammography)

Inspired by the example of the first Bon Secours Sisters who brought health care outside the walls of their convent – the vision is to bring critically important breast health screenings to the uninsured, underinsured, in churches, community centers and workplace health fairs. As part of the Breast Health Program, St. Francis’s goal is to sponsor a MOM (Mobile On-site Mammography) van traveling throughout the Upstate to proactively engage at-risk populations by offering mammography screenings and education on breast self-exams. With almost 20,000 mammograms last year alone, the St. Francis Breast Health department is meeting an overwhelming demand and fulfilling a vital, growing need. Breast Imaging volumes increased 104% between FY07 and FY10. Funding will also allow for the relocation and expansion of the existing Breast Health department into a Breast Health Center, with an additional digital mammography unit. Growing with the needs of this community, St. Francis can reach many more women with state-of-the-art, compassionate care.
