Volunteer Info

As Greenville’s longest running street festival, the success of the event depends heavily on the support of 1,800 dedicated community volunteers. Volunteers are stationed throughout the event site to help ensure that residents and visitors of all ages have a fun and memorable experience.

Interested volunteers can fill out the online application. Once registered, you will receive an email with your password and instructions on how to sign into the volunteer database and sign up for positions. All volunteers will receive an official St. Francis Fall for Greenville volunteer t-shirt and a wristband for entrance to the Costco Volunteer Hospitality area.

Please note: All volunteers are required to fill out the new Volunteer Service Agreement & Release form prior to volunteering for the first time in 2010. Volunteers between the ages of 10 -17 must have a parental consent form on file. Waivers can be faxed to 864-467-2794 or emailed to efleming@greenvillesc.gov prior to the event.

Harvest Hope

The mission of Harvest Hope Food Bank is to provide for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education. Harvest Hope partners with local businesses and community organizations to provide volunteers in many areas: in Product Rescue to sort, clean and repackage food; in the Emergency Food Pantry to conduct client interviews, answer telephones and package food; and in the community during special events and food drives.

Project Host

Offers a job-training program called the Project Host Community Culinary School. This is a twelve-week program where students develop valuable life and professional skills including goal establishment, conflict management, budgeting, resume writing and interviewing skills to help them gain and sustain employment after successful completion of the program. The Soup Kitchen offers lunch for those in need.

Loaves and Fishes

Loaves & Fishes meets the challenge of hunger by connecting willing donors of perishable food with local human services agencies that use the food to feed the hungry. Loaves & Fishes serve Greenville County residents at risk of hunger and malnutrition; two thirds are single parent families with young children and 12% are senior citizens. They provide food through a network of emergency food providers in Greenville County. These organizations include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelter or residential programs, community centers and neighborhood distribution programs.

HandsOn Greenville

Hands On Greenville is a non-profit organization that helps individuals, families and corporate and community groups find flexible volunteer opportunities at more than 300 service organizations. Hands On Greenville’s mission is to link volunteers with rewarding volunteer opportunities. Hands On Greenville is an affiliate of the HandsOn Network and Points of Light, an umbrella association of "Cares" and "Hands On" organizations across the United States, U.K. and other countries.

Greenville Rape Crisis

The Greenville Rape Crisis and Child Abuse Center (GRCCAC) provide healing services to survivors of child abuse and sexual assault in Greenville County. The mission of the Greenville Rape Crisis and Child Abuse Center is to stop sexual violence and child abuse and the impact of these crimes through: Prevention, Investigation, Collaboration, Treatment and Advocacy. GRCCAC provides free, confidential services to sexual assault and child abuse survivors and their families.

Job Descriptions

Block Captain

Age Requirement: 21 and older

Check in volunteers, monitor volunteers, and assist the volunteer coordinator with volunteer issues, over all volunteers in designated block.

Qualifications:
Computer Literate; 1-year experience in the current volunteer program; Attended Block Captain leadership training.

Ticket Sellers

Age Requirement: 17

Sell tickets to purchase food and beverages.

Qualifications:
Experience handling cash transactions. Volunteers can sit or stand for this position.

Wristband Sellers

Age Requirement: 18

Checks ID's and verify that patrons are of legal age to consume alcohol.

Qualifications:
Experience handling cash transactions. Volunteers can sit or stand for this position.

Wristband Helper

Age Requirement: 14 and above

Put wristbands on patrons. Helpers under 18 cannot handle money nor check ID's.

Qualifications:
None

Beer Servers

Age Requirement: 21

Serve beer and wine to the public.

Qualifications:
Must be able to stand the entire shift.

Wine Tent

Age Requirement: 21

Serve and discuss wine to the public.

Qualifications:
Must be able to stand the entire shift and knowledge of wine very helpful.

Beer Garden

Age Requirement: 21

Serve craft beer to the public.

Qualifications:
Must be able to stand the entire shift and knowledge of craft beer helpful.

Runners

Age Requirement: 14 and above or younger (10-13) with an adult.

Will assist staff and block captains with various duties. Assigned to an area and you will be given a vest to wear.

Qualifications:
Must be able to stand/walk the entire shift.

Festival Concierge:

Age Requirement: 14 and above (10-13 with an adult)

You are assigned to an area and report to a block captain. Assist the public with general questions, maps, directions, surveys. You will be given a vest to wear and additional materials will be provided in your tote bag.

Qualifications:
Must be able to stand/walk the entire shift.

Ice Bins:

Age Requirement: 14 and above (10-13 with an adult)

Record and assist with Ice distribution.

Qualifications:
Must be able to write legibly; Sitting position.

Pepsi Servers

Age Requirement: 14 years and older (10-13 with a parent)

Serve Pepsi to the public

Qualifications:
Must be able to stand the entire shift.

Volunteer Hospitality Tent:

Age Requirement: 14 years and older (10-13 with a parent)

Greet volunteer; Check passes; Bus tables; clear trash from floor; Help runners prepare snacks to take back to the volunteers. Prep and prepare food for the volunteers.

Qualifications:
Must be able to follow directions and enjoy working with the public.
